Strawberry Shortcake Smiles

What Big eyes you Have ?

I wanted to share what has been inspiring me in my latest paintings and sketch book rambles.

The wonderful and Kitsch Art from the 60's and 70's
It's cute but has a creepy edge to it i feel.

The dear sweet joy of Strawberry Shortcake

you can't fail to be inspired by her.
She makes me smile !

And Gyaru

I am constantly inspired by all thats around me but have found the theme of dolls and big eyes have taken me down some interesting paths.

This is the beginnings of a mix media piece i started

Using a whole range of supplies, such as Gesso, Neon Pink paint, Gel matte, Alcohol inks
pencils, spray paint and stencils

and here is where i ended up !

I have lots more paintings to share but for now i will keep them under wraps for the re opening of my Etsy shop*. This new direction is making me feel so excited ( once i get past the negative super critical  thinking)
I can't wait to get all my ideas out, get covered in paint and just let go on the canvas !  and i do hope you are all enjoying this new direction.

What has been inspiring you lately ?

Have you tried any new art/craft products ?

Hoping that you have sunshine in your part of the world !

Be Great to hear from you

Heidi, you have been inspiring me lately! :) I'm loving the new direction and I can't wait to see your shop open. I have been motivated by you popping up on facebook saying 'I'm painting today'. So today, my paper arrived, so I got out some acrylics and painted four ACEOs. I haven't painted in forever and I've never painted an ACEO - didn't quite realise how small they were -eek, I wanted to start small to gain confidence, but that was just awkward :) Anyway, I've made a start, I've got some way to go, but I made a start and I didn't cry or throw my paintbrushes, so yeay! Thank you! :)

I absolutely adore your new style and the bright colours!! As for your inspiration: those 60's and 70's illustrations were so cool! And I love all quirky Japanese stuff! It happens I have a lot of that lying around, I'll send you some 'inspiration pics' later this week! Can't wait to see your shop open again! :D
Mmm, I've been inspired mostly by fairytales and forests lately, and by dreaming of the new camera I want so much, lol! xxx
